The Prototyping Team is for self-directed students who would like to brainstorm, design, produce, and refine hands-on activities for our STEM outreach programs. Team members will learn skills such as running the laser cutter and 3D printer, drafting new designs in CAD, working with digital electronics components, soldering, and using tools. Web page design, use of technical software packages, and applied math skills will also frequently be involved. Students may also pursue independent math, science, engineering, technology, or entrepreneurship projects.
Upper elementary, middle, and high school students may join the prototyping team projects and adult volunteers are also welcome. High school students who are at least 14 may apply for a paid position on the team or may serve as volunteers.
Prototyping Team will meet most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m., and monthly on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the dates listed below.
Many thanks to Purdue Polytechnic High School for allowing us free use of their Makerspace!
