The Riverbend Community Math Center has collaborated with many different departments and programs at Notre Dame.
Professor Jeff Diller currently serves on our board of directors, and many other professors, post-docs, and students from Notre Dame have participated or served as instructors or volunteers in several of our programs. We have also assisted many Notre Dame faculty members with the design and implementation of their own STEM outreach programs. In recent years, we have collaborated on outreach programs with math professors Mark Behrens, Jeff Diller, Nicholas Edelen, David Galvin, Michael Gekhtman, Matt Gursky, Brian Hall, Andrei Jorza, Steven Karp, Arthur Lim, Sonja Mapes, Brian Mulholland, Kathryn Mulholland, Neil Nicholson, Liviu Nicolaescu, Marco Radeschi, Eric Riedl, Nick Salter, and Christopher Schommer-Pries.
Since 2019, the Department of Mathematics has officially co-sponsored our Math Circles, with professors and students assuming the leadership roles for most age groups.
In addition to these collaborations with the math department, we have also worked extensively with faculty in physics, engineering, the center for STEM education, and many other departments.
From 2015 through 2019, we assisted Notre Dame with a grant to recruit undergraduate students of color for a summer program in geometry and topology and ultimately as graduate students in their math department.
The Office of Community Relations generously allowed the Math and Technology Academy, Math Circle, Community Research and Family Math programs to utilize space in the Notre Dame Community Relations building in downtown South Bend for several years. Notre Dame hosted the Math Circle Teacher Training Institutes that we co-organized with Bob and Ellen Kaplan of the Boston Math Circle during the summers of 2008 through 2016.
The Riverbend Community Math Center has assisted with Notre Dame programs such as Research Experience for Teachers and other community outreach and teacher preparation programs. We also assisted the office of student disabilities with tutoring and specialized coursework for a blind chemistry major.
