The Chicago Pre-College Science and Engineering Program (ChiS&E) provides highly-engaging, age-appropriate hands-on science and engineering activities for Chicago Public School (CPS) K--8 students and their parents. The program develops student and parent knowledge as well as a love of learning in areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Their special teaming approach --- providing teaching tools and learning experiences to teams of teachers and parents --- is unique to ChiS&E and an integral part of its ability to generate a shared vision of the possible among students and parents alike.
During the summers of 2019, 2022, and 2023 we partnered with the University of Notre Dame math department to provide a 2-week residential program in advanced math for 20 ChiS&E students.
Since 2017, Riverbend Community Math Center has provided rising 9th and 10th grade students in ChiS&E with an introduction to Calculus concepts using hands-on materials such as motion detectors and art projects.
