The Apprentice Academy
The Apprentice Academy is a not for profit organization that provides people with opportunities for career awareness and exploration, technical training, and connections with prospective employers. They provide vocational education for both high school students and adults.
During the summer of 2010, we assisted the Apprentice Academy by presenting a math and plumbing activity during their summer camp for high school students.
In the spring of 2009, we taught a 30 hour Advanced Math for Industry class as part of the Apprentice Academy's Precision Metalworking Training for adults. This class consisted primarily of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. In the fall of 2009, we taught two 30 hour math classes -- a Basic Math Class and an Advanced Math for Industry class.
During the summer of 2008, the Riverbend Community Math Center assisted the Apprentice Academy with their week-long summer program for high school students by leading several hands-on plumbing and digital electronics activities.
